Eid can be translated to “festival” or “feast” in Arabic and it is a time of celebration in Islam. Eid also comes during the end of a fast, in which there are 2 Eid celebrations in the year: Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha. Eid al-Fitr occurs at the end of Ramadan. This celebrates the “feast of the breaking of the fast”. Eid al-Adha commemorates the end of Muslims’ pilgrimage to Mecca.
